PHILIP L - Electric Composer
Le Fou (aka LIFEcell) is an electronic artist, content producer and festival producer from San Francisco. His compositions explore metaphysical, spiritual and futuristic concepts by combining driving rhythms, harmonic experimentation and sonic spatialization. His voluminous catalog of work ranges from beat-less atmospheres to emotive club thumping "4-on-the-floor" harmonic techno arrangements. Classically trained in composition and piano at a young age by the eminent pianist and Shanghai Conservatory Professor Li Ruixing, his work has been featured in commercials, label releases, media platforms, documentaries, gallery exhibitions, events and on terrestrial radio stations. He has released with Shao (Tresor) on Caotai records, MHP on SSR (Indieworks) and has a solo release on the Chinese major label Taihe entitled “The Noble” released in 2019.
His current production work includes producing music for Korea's underground rap sensation 6jidam (Yook Ji Dam), Snoop Dogg, a Tea documentary and working on projects with artists such as Kyoka (Raster), Rick Parker among others.
Le Fou plays internationally and has shared the stage and opened for artists such as Japan's Yoshihiro Hanno/Radiq (op:disc), Russia’s Nina Kraviz (TRIP), Swizterland's Ripperton (Mina, Innervisions) among others. In addition to performing at major festivals such as ULTRA (Korea 2019) and Electron (Switzerland 2017) he performs prominently in China at venues such as The Shelter, 44KW, ONSTAGE, Elevator, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA Shanghai), the Lafayette Gallery, T-Park Shenzhen, Logo and the now defunct JZ Livehouse.
He is also the cofounder, director and CFO of STRRR, a Berlin based TV platform that showcases the best of the web through the lens of influential luminaries in the field of art, music, film, fashion and beyond. Presenters include Gilles Peterson, Trevor Jackson, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Wolfgang Voight, Suzanne Ciani, Sven Marquardt, Ryoichi Kurokawa among others.
In 2019, he assumed the role of creative producer of San Francisco’s famed Recombinant Festival, which features live AV and experimental music performances.
